LESSON 6 OF 14 · 1:30
Moving with precision
Select, snap, rotate, nudge — and undo anything.
Transcript
0:03Everything you place can be moved — and the canvas is built so you can be exact about it, not approximate.
0:10First, getting around. Scroll to pan the room. Command-scroll, or pinch on a trackpad, to zoom.
0:17And Fit puts the whole room back on screen whenever you've wandered off.
0:21Click any object to select it. The panel on the right tells you exactly what it is, how big it is, and how many chairs are on it.
0:29Drag it and it snaps to a half-foot grid, so things line up without you fighting the mouse for it.
0:35Drag on empty floor instead, and you draw a marquee — everything inside it gets selected together.
0:41Shift-click adds and removes one at a time, if you'd rather build the selection by hand.
0:46A selected object gets a rotate handle. Dragging it snaps every fifteen degrees — hold Alt if you want a free angle.
0:54Arrow keys nudge the selection. That's how you land something exactly where it has to be.
0:59And all of it is undoable. A hundred steps back, and forward again.
1:05Right-click brings the rest: duplicate, copy and paste, bring to front and send to back, rotate ninety degrees, align, distribute, and group. Lock is over in the right-hand panel — for the things that shouldn't move at all.
1:19That's the movement toolkit. Next, what's actually in the library you're placing from.
